We support 'SOCH' to educate local disadvantaged children

Story

Nearly 1/2 of the world's population live on less than $2.50 a day.

More than 1.3 billion live in extreme poverty — less than $1.25 a day

1.3 billion tonnes — one third of the food produced globally for human consumption annually — gets lost or wasted annually.

These food losses and waste amounts to roughly $ 680 billion yearly in industrialized countries and $ 310 billion in developing countries.

So what am I going to do against all of this? For the third year running, I'm going to be taking part in the Live Below the Line Challenge, in which I will be living off £1 (or $1.50) worth of food and drink daily for one week, representing the 1.3 billion human beings who do so every day.

All the funds raised will be donated to Serenje Orphans Appeal, in support SOCH, an orphanage in Zambia that provides children with a home and the opportunity to attend school, whilst maintaining the natural bond between orphan and legal guardian.

In this challenge, I will be standing up for every being's human rights. Will you join me?

Do not allow for the continuation of the cruelty of poverty, a terrible condition that robs one of their basic human rights.

Alone I can make a few small ripples in the water, but with your support, we can begin to create a wave of change to wash away marks of inhumanity.

About the charity

SOA raises awareness and funds to support SOCH ('Serenje Outreach for Childrens Help') so that SOCH may provide care and educational opportunities for disadvantaged children (vulnerables, street kids, children with disabilities). Creating self-sustainability for SOCH is now a key target for SOA.
