Sarah's Sober October

Those of you who know me well will realise this is a big challenge.
In October I'm daring myself not to drink a single drop of alcohol. During that time, I'll be going to two music festivals, nine gigs and speaking at a funeral. Not to mention countless train journeys, nights out and evenings on my sofa, where I'd normally have a glass in my hand.
Drunk is my default state. It's not a marathon, a triathlon or a skydive, but it's going to take some serious mental fortitude to get through this, when it's so easy to crack open a can.
I have chosen to raise money for St Elizabeth Hospice because they enable people to live life to its fullest in their final days. I recently watched my dear Nan pass away in a hospital bed, where she least wanted to be. Although the nursing staff were superb, it was a battle for us to ensure she was able to end her life in the peaceful manner she had wished for.
It would have been a different story if she'd have been able to access hospice care. St Elizabeth Hospice cover most of Suffolk, but they are unable to offer hospice-at-home services in Waveney (where my Nan was) due to a lack of funding.
Please help me to stick to my goal by supporting this important cause, in memory of my lovely Nan, Edna Williams.
