Story

I started running in January 2013 to raise funds for NAPAC, an unsung charity not widely heard of. Fortunately (or unfortunately) in the last couple of years the fantastic work that NAPAC do has become much more widely heard of due to shocking revelations regarding many celebrities. This also means that more resources are needed to continue the great work that they do!

In 2013 I completed three 10k runs (6 miles each) -a huge personal triumph for an absolute non runner, not able to run for even 30 seconds when I started on that cold January morning in 2013. But more importantly I raised over £1,000.

In 2014 I upped the ante and ran three half marathons (13.1 miles each, believe me that 0.1 mile cannot be forgotten!) and raised a further £350.

In 2015 I am planning on running a marathon, 26.2 miles, sorry but I am not sure I could manage 3! It seems even more poignant as I will be 42 in 2015 and a marathon is the equivalent of 42km!

Your support over the coming months will keep me going with the gruelling training on cold and dark evenings and early mornings that I know are to come.

It also means so much to so many victims just trying to survive day by day and function as normally as they can (Something the rest of us don't even think about). To try and understand the reasons why (The abuser was just cruel, it was NOT their fault). To accept that their childhood was cruelly taken away from them and they'll never get it back (a great crime in my eyes as I had a fantastic childhood surrounded by love that I took for granted). To find and accept help and understanding assisted by NAPAC, and then to move forward with small cautious steps and to accept love and affection from a partner without feeling that they don't deserve it.

Your support is needed now more than ever and every penny really does make a difference and can turn a life around. How do I know this with such certainty? Because I have seen it with my very own eyes in someone very close to me.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page., your donation means so much to me, my family, and to the brave soul who has just made that decision to contact NAPAC and ask for help Because it's never too late.

Wish me luck, and if you see me in a heap somewhere along my routes in York and Scarborough please stop my garmin and help me to get home!
