Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As you know, me and my friend Angela are attempting to run the Edinburgh Rock n Roll Half Marathon on Sunday 14th April 2013. Casey McRobb is my friend's niece and it's the least we can do to help Yorkhill along the way to her successful recovery aswell as continuing the fantastic care they provide for other sick children in the UK.
Casey has a condition called hypo plastic left heart syndrome (hlhs) which means she only has half a heart, she also has tricuspid regurgitation. She has had 3 open heart surgeries (6 days old, 4 months old & 2 1/2 yrs) called the Norwood, Glenn and the Fontan. She has also had a tricuspid repair. Casey will need further surgery in the future and eventually a heart transplant.
It's our first half marathon and training is going fine, although it's very cold in Edinburgh at the moment. We just think about her when we are getting tired and her smiling wee face urges us on. We may not run the whole race but we will try our best - it doesn't hurt to walk a wee bit every now and again, does it? ;-)
