Story
As part of our NCS Social Action Project, our team, 4G, is raising money for the British Deaf Association (BDA). The BDA is a charity which supports deaf people across the country and pushes for legal recognition of the disability. They promote equality meaning that deaf people are able to access information and support to receive the same opportunities as hearing people. A link to their website can be found here:

We have chosen to support this charity as deafness is a disability that greatly affects the lives of many, yet goes on rather forgotten about. More than 11 million people in the UK are currently affected by some form of hearing loss and it is estimated that by 2035 one in five people will suffer from hearing loss.
In order to raise money for this worthwhile cause, we are taking part in a 3K Fun Run on Thursday 10th August in which we will run in pairs with one person blindfolded and the other wearing ear defenders. This will give us an opportunity to temporarily experience life without one of our senses, as many people have to for their whole lives. During the day, we will also be running workshops to teach our peers basic sign language. Furthermore, we will then sleep outside for the entire night with only basic resources such as sleeping bags and cardboard for comfort.
Any donations you are able to make will go straight to the British Deaf Association and we greatly appreciate any support.
