Twenty years ago I looked in to doing the Marathon Des Sables, however due to military commitments, I was unable to scratch the itch. Fast forward 20 years and I was speaking to a good friend of mine called Dean Stott. Dean is currently cycling the entire length of the Pan American Highway to raise awareness and funds for Heads Together, a mental health charity. Feeling suitably inspired by Dean, I looked for a challenge of my own. I'm 17 stone, I'm not built for running, which made the idea of running in the MdS even more appealing. Finally, after a twenty year wait, I'll be undertaking one of the toughest ultra races on the planet. Raising money for Combat Stress as I go.
