Story
I was diagnosed as being severely deaf when I was just over two years old and have worn hearing aids since. During school I had support but didn't feel confident, I attended one of the first Academy schools in Manchester that had a lot of deaf students.
We all started to go to The Manchester Deaf Centre Where we all met new people and have remained friends. Even though we all did different things at college and university we still meet there to catch up.
The Manchester Deaf Centre offers support for employment, college, housing, finance, interpreters for appointments and sports activities. It has been a lifeline for me I go at least 3 times a week and love being part of plays and other various activities.
