Story
On 31 January 2017, I will be part of a team of five women travelling to Ethiopia to trek in the remote north-west region of the country. I will be walking up to eight hours a day, often in challenging conditions, and up to 3000m in altitude.
On the way we will be staying in local villages as part of a initiative which allows very poor rural communities to benefit directly from tourism, thereby improving their livelihood as well as involving them in the protection of their physical and cultural environments. We are looking forward to unleashing the magic of the instant Polaroid camera on the children of Ethiopia, as this proved such a hit on our last trek in Vietnam!
Once more I am raising money for Journey of a Lifetime Trust. Every two years this charity takes a group of disabled and disadvantaged 14-18 year olds on a month-long expedition designed to challenge and test them so as to develop their confidence and self-efficacy. Every penny raised in Sponsorship will go directly to JoLT.
In addition, I will be matching every donation with a donation to WaterAid. This international charity aims to transform the lives of the poorest and most marginalised people in the world by improving access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation. Their vision is to do this for everyone, everywhere, by 2030, so they need our help!
Thank you for visiting my page and supporting the JoLt Trust and WaterAid.
