We enable families with disabled children to enjoy days out and activities

Story

Hi, thanks for coming to our Just Giving page! This April, we will be running the Manchester Marathon to support Daytrippers (Bolton) and to raise awareness for children with disabilities.

Daytrippers (Bolton) is a purely volunteer run community group by parents with and/ or carers of a child with disabilities. The charity aims to provide a day out during each school holiday, for families in Bolton with children with severe physical and/or learning disabilities. These trips can vary from horse riding, swimming, or with assistance from Bolton Council Outdoor Education Team they can also include water activities and snow tubing/ skiing. These trips give the family and child a sigh of relief from the crippling stress and anxiety of trying to plan what-should-be a routine family day out. In addition, they have given the opportunity for the children to make new friendships and experiences, whilst learning how to cope in different social situations. The parents are able to receive support from other parents who understand their children and the challenges that are sometimes faced.

One of our close family members has autism and learning difficulties, therefore we recognise that regular family days out aren’t always what you plan them to be. Our aim is to raise £600 however, we will push for every penny we can get. Please sponsor us, big or small, every donation will go such a long way.

Thank you, Jack and Amy.
