Race  to the Tower is 53 miles (85.2km) of hellish hills and was relentless. Mile 49 felt like I was running on the bottom of the bones in my ankles, it was extremely painful! I bloody finished it though, I limped over that line and had a cry when I was on my own.

I was later told that overuse and under training had caused the muscle to tear tiny fragments of my shin bones causing a serious case of shin splints in my right leg.

However when anyone says ‘challenge’ to me something stirs, so this year I’m going one better....

I’m taking part in the Cotswold way challenge, 50km and then a further 100km, Race to the stones. In total a whooping 150km at the end of June and the beginning of July… 😳🙈   

My aim is to cycle 110km in April at the Somerset supportive too but this has been postponed to September 2021 due to Rona 

I can hear you asking why 🤔 (I have too, believe me 🤣) but the reason is there is a serious need in our county to support Young People whether it be crime, drugs support or most importantly mental health and I want to help with early intervention and prevention!

“Since 2010 more than 4,500 youth work jobs have been cut and 760 youth centres have closed. The consequences of these cuts cannot be underestimated. Cases of knife crime, mental health difficulties and isolation among young people continue to rise, while the number of services available to positively intervene and prevent such cases continues to decline.”

So this time I am raising money to help our young people, to give them a chance.  The money I intend to raise will go to an organisation called Young Gloucestershire and Infobuzz, who work tirelessly to fill the gaps in support locally.

With all this in mind, I would really appreciate your support whether it be verbal encouragement or through donations/ sponsorship. This would definitely help me to remain positive and devoted to completing these challenges because it’s going to be tough that’s for sure.
