Creswell Crags, a prehistoric limestone gorge has been welcoming visitors for over 50,000 years. With some of the most extensive evidence of Neanderthal occupation in the UK, evidence of early humans, Ice Age rock art, fossil remains of creatures such as woolly mammoths and hyenas, as well as a cave full of early modern 'Witch Marks', it is an internationally significant heritage site. Visitors today come to enjoy the scenery, discover the unique heritage through the onsite museum and guided cave tours, attend special events, relax in the cafe, and spend time in nature. On the 17th March 2020, Creswell Crags was forced to close in response to measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Despite the easing of lockdown and vital emergency funding, the Creswell Heritage Trust remains at risk. With no reserves and no regular income, and uncertainty over when museums will be able to open and if visitors will return. Every donation helps the Trust work towards a bright future.
