Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!
The start of 2013 was marked by loss... Loss of a very dear member of our family. Manu Talsania was victim to a silent killer -Cancer. With no identifiable risk factors we watched my Father's elder brother slip away despite the best efforts of loved ones and oncologists at the Royal Free Hospital. This is the nature of cancer, it strikes without warning and turns your world upside down! Pancreatic cancer has a particularly poor prognosis. It presents late, has no form of screening and few curative therapies. Its famous victims include Steve Jobs, Luciano Pavaroti and more recently Wilko Johnson.
Though he put up an admirable and brave fight, the statistics were not in his favour and Manu Talsania died at home on 22nd January 2013 with family and faith by his side.
We all know someones who's suffered at the hands of cancer. As a tribute to all those living with, beating or sadly losing the battle, I've pledged to raise awareness and money for Pancreatic Research Fund UK (PCRF) by participating in this year's London Triathlon -PCRF are a charity dedicated to defeating cancer by funding innovative research, not just chemotherapy. A swim, run and cycle will be a befitting tribute to a man who expected the very best and for all those heroes and heroines who have fought a similar fate. Please help me raise awareness and support this great cause -We all know someone who's been a cancer hero.
Thank-you from me, and the entire family. In your loving memory, Bapa x
