Story
I have taken on some crazy challenges in my time, but this one tops the lot.
Six months ago, I'd never sat on a road bike, let alone ridden one. But in September 2017, I will be cycling the length of Britain, from Lands End to John o 'Groats all in aid of Kick4Life.
The ride covers nearly 1,000 miles in 9 days (thats about 110 miles per day) and we will climb twice the height of Everest in that time!
So why am I doing this? Simply because Kick4Life is one of the most effective and inspiring charities I have come across. From nothing 10 years ago, the charity has established itself as one of the most important HIV awareness organisations in Lesotho, one of the World's poorest countries, with the highest prevalence of HIV in any nation.
Through its ground breaking social enterprise model, K4L administer thousands of HIV tests each year, provide countless HIV awareness sessions to children in Lesotho and through its not for profit local hotel and restaurant, give vital training to young people in Lesotho.
And that's not all - K4L provide IT and literacy training and there is even a programme allowing young people to attend college overseas, as well as a non profit making local premier league football team and a theatre group. It is absolutely amazing what the team have achieved in such a short space of time and in 2014 I was fortunate enough to visit Lesotho and see for myself the incredible work that K4L are doing for some of the World's most disadvantaged children.
And the best bit of all - because K4L are a small, focused charity, all of any sponsorship raised goes direct to its fundraising efforts and not to middle men.
So please dig deep and sponsor me on behalf of this amazing charity. Every penny will mean so much to me when I'm toiling up the hills of the UK!
