Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  I ran my first marathon in October 2015 - in Chicago, USA.  During the event I discovered that Chicago was one of 6 'major' marathons which together form the Abbot World Marathon Majors series.  Spurred on by my new found love of distance running it felt like a goal worth working for.  So far I have completed 4 - Chicago (2015), Berlin (2016), Tokyo (2017) and New York City (2017).  I hope to complete the remaining 2 in April this year - Boston on April 16th and London on April 22nd.  Having completed the 6 I will be an Abbott World Marathon Major finisher and will receive a nice medal which contains references to each of the cities in the series.

Both Boston and London are difficult races to get entries places for - Boston due to the requirement to run a 'Boston Qualifier' time and London because it is so hugely oversubscribed.  Having been fortunate enough to secure places in both I will just have to ignore the inconvenience of them being just 6 days apart and on different continents.

It has been a tremendous privilege to run the races I have done so far and because London is the world's leading charity marathon I wanted to take part in it as a charity runner.  Many charities are run like corporations now with highly paid executive teams earning more than the prime minister in many cases.  That doesn't sit well with me, so I am running for a little known charity which has a smaller infrastructure and deals with something most of us get to take for granted each day - our eyesight.

My thanks in advance for any donation you are able to make to help the Sticker Syndrome Support Group achieve the awareness that will enable early diagnosis and treatment for sufferers of the condition.
