Story
National Geographic described it as 'the toughest footrace on earth'! I don't know if thats true but in April this year I am going to see what its like to run 159 miles, self supported, across the Sahara desert in temperatures of around 40'C. Running isn't my thing and I don't even like the beach so I think the 'longest and sandiest MDS yet' is going to be somewhat challenging!
Last year my son Harry was diagnosed with a condition called Ulcerative Colitis. The Crohn’s in Childhood Research Association (CICRA) is dedicated to creating a wider understanding of Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, particularly as it affects children and young adults. It raises funds to support approved medical and scientific research aimed at finding more effective treatments and an eventual cure.
There are many really worthwhile charities out there, some a lot more well known than this one. While I donate to charities privately, I rarely ask for sponsorship but if attempting what Ranulph Fiennes described as "more hellish than hell" isn't worth a few quid then I don't know what is?
Dig deep people, I know I will be!
Thank you.
