Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 6th October I am competing in the Barcelona Ironman for Broughton House - Home of Salford & Greater Manchester's Veterans. Apart from being insane(!) I am doing this because I want to raise some needed funds for their new building to enable them to house more veterans.
Over the past year or two, along with work friends, we have been visiting Broughton house and spending time with the residents. Getting to know the veterans has been brilliant and as a group we have been donating food and completing other events, such as a charity hike up Snowdon.
Broughton house is a dedicated charity and nursing home for veterans living their remaining years amongst friends and a team committed to serving all those who served us (please visit www.broughtonhouse.com for more info)
I decided earlier on in the year to complete a challenge of my own, not only to stretch myself, but also to continue to raise awareness for Broughton (and more cash too!)
I've competed in a couple of Triathlons before and I run a bit, but this is definitely the biggest challenge I will have taken on.
In succession I'll be;
- Swimming 2.2 miles in the Mediterranean Sea
- Cycling 112 miles
- Running 26.2 miles
The cut off time for the event is 15hrs 40 (which makes me feel quite sick that I’ll be on the move for 13+ hours!)
So..... please wish me luck (have a read of the Broughton House website and even plan a visit yourself) and if you can, donate some of your hard-earned money.
I know 100% that it will be the thought of all the donations pledged that will keep me going on the day.
Thanks again,
Simon
