Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is Simon Noakes and I lost my brother Stephan a few years ago to suicide and his decision to take his own life had a huge impact on the entire family and this is my story.
Ste was a great guy. He was respectful, funny and made us feel like a family. When we lost Ste it affected all of the family in different ways.
For instance I became very angry about things and looked for justification on everything in the world. Looking back now I can see that the reason I came through my loss was because of the support I had around me, especially with person close to me.
She probably did more for me at the time then she’ll ever realise. When I needed to vent my anger she listened, when I needed time to think she gave it me though I understand that not everyone is as lucky as I was. I honestly was struggling and without the support of loved ones around me I don’t know where I would have been.
Unfortunately, my brother Ste wasn’t the only person I lost, I also lost a friend and old coach of mine. Nick Mole or ‘Moley’ was someone I knew through my work as a football coach and someone I respected for what they had achieved in the game. I saw Nick a few weeks before he left us, and just like my brother there was no way I could tell that he was going through it and to say I was shocked is an understatement.
This is why these events are so important. I have had the anguish of losing someone and I know what it feels like to have lost someone so close. With the support I gained I got through it, however everyone is not so fortunate and that is why I’m supporting health and wellbeing charity The Kaleidoscope Plus Group and there bid to help prevent people taking their own lives but also support those who have been directly impacted by suicide.
So my plea to you is let’s help others that are in need of support by donating and supporting me and let’s make a positive difference to those in need!
