Three colleagues at Freeway Insurance are running the Chester Half Marathon for the Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Development Charity.

About Bird

B.I.R.D transforms the lives of children and adults who have experienced a brain injury, have learning difficulties or do not have a formal diagnosis but are struggling in various aspects of their development.  

B.I.R.D provides an exercise-based therapy programme which is undertaken by the patient for 12-24 months on average. B.I.R.D does not receive any statutory funding and relies on generous donations to continue to support families. 

Cleaning 4 Causes

Our race entries were kindly donated by John Gartland from Cleaning 4 Causes, which is an organisation that donates a portion of their profit to donate to charities and sponsor events. I asked John about Cleaning 4 Causes and his passion for supporting charities; this is what he had to say:

"To be honest the biggest question I get asked is why did you call it Cleaning 4 Causes and why do you give 10% away. I've raised a lot of money for charity in my previous profession as a pub manager and I felt I was really going to miss that charity aspect in my working life. It's easy to set up quizzes, DJ night and other events when you have a pub full of people but not so easy when I'm running a cleaning company. 

I've seen first hand with The BIRD Charity, SPACE Sensory and The Alder hey Hospital to name a few that I've seen the amazing help they provide not just to those needing that special help but also to families who also need help to deal with things. Raising funds is what I'm about and I have a natural passion to help others so Cleaning 4 Causes is the perfect name! 

5 years a go I ran around the country, I ran 7 marathons in 7 days, I've been waxed, grown a moustache, had bake sales, ran 10km, half marathons, marathons, swam lots of lengths and I plan to swim the channel in the next two years! "
