We support people affected by cancer to cope with their changing life

Story

On Sunday 13th August 2017, between 12-4pm, I am holding a
family fun day at The Gatehouse Cafe, 2-4 Highbridge Street, Waltham abbey, Essex, EN9 1DG ( opposite the Waltham Abbey Church) to raise money for the amazing Nightingale Cancer Support Centre, Enfield.

The centre have been the most amazing support for my sister Frances, who was diagnosed with hormone receptive breast cancer, just over two years ago. After successful treatment, Frances went into remission.

Unfortunately June 2016 she was then diagnosed with lung cancer, which was treated with a lobe and nodes removed, followed by chemo
over the Christmas period and then radio therapy early new year.

Over the Easter school holidays, 2017, she received the devastating news that it had spread the her brain, developing tumours. As soon
as she was diagnosed, she was treated with radio therapy.

Under two weeks of completing that treatment she was back in hospital to be told it was an aggressive cancer that had now spread to her coxes ( lower spine ).

For the past month Frances has been in Barnet hospital being treated for an lung infection. As I sit by her bed, writing this, I have just received the heart breaking, shocking news that there is nothing more than can be done.

My sister is 47, married to a wonderful, brilliantly supportive husband, with a beautiful bright teenage son.

She will not be recovering from this because of  the cancers will to survive...

I am asking you all for your help, to help, me reach this target as my way of thanks to the small charity for all their support and help.

To show support for my sister I will be shaving my hair for Frances and all other cancer patients and survivors, during the fun day.

All are welcome to bring family and friends to this day.  The Nightingale will be present to offer support and advice to those in need.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart and my family's, for taking the time to read my story and for kindly making your donation and look forward to seeing you on this special day.

Many thanks

Siobhaun
