Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I moved to Ireland almost 3 years ago, and this country has been nothing but great to me (weather aside, obviously.)
However, I am painfully aware that should I ever need to exert my reproductive rights while living here, the country I love so much would not love me back. AT ALL.
Ireland’s abortion laws are among the most restrictive in the world. If a woman has an illegal abortion in Ireland, she risks 14 years in prison.
I am one of the lucky ones who could go abroad to ensure my choice, my life, and my future are protected: thousands of women and girls do not have this opportunity, so they either look for dangerous alternatives, or are forced through pregnancies they have not chosen, often at the risk of their own lives.
Among many other worthwhile causes, Amnesty International Ireland is campaigning for:
- Total repeal of the 8th Amendment and removal of the issue entirely from the Constitution
- Full decriminalisation of abortion
- The introduction of a legal and medical framework which respects the human rights of women and girls
If you think that every woman and girl in Ireland has a right to full, inalienable control over their body and their life, please chip in and donate.
My employer will match every single donation, so whatever you can spare will go a long way!
Thank you!
