Story
William was born on Sunday 19th August 2018 and unfortunately being born with CDH (a hole in the diaphragm) was put straight onto ventilation straight away. He found it very difficult to keep everything going and so was then transferred from Princess Anne’s Hospital across the road to Southampton General Hospital PICU where he was placed into ECMO. This is a machine that is brought by the Heartlink charity and was introduced into the UK and the NHS due to the charity bringing this over to treat the founders daughter. They have since developed the therapy further and William was transferred to Glenfield Hospital in Leicester where he is currently being treated.
He has now had the CDH surgery and is continuing on the ECMO machine which costs £10,000 a day to run. He is currently on day 8 of being on the machine as we speak! Both Daniel and I would like to raise awareness of just how much this machine costs and would like to raise some money, but most of all, awareness of this and Williams life.
We have been posting updates on our Facebook profiles but if you’d like further information then please do ask as we want to help support the charity as much as possible. William wouldn’t be here today without them and their continued funding!
Update: Sadly, on Thursday 30th August, William passed away and joined the stars in the sky. We know that he will be looking down on all of us, being extremely proud of the awareness he has raised by the sharing of his story. He has been on such a journey with family, friends and even the children at school so we are so glad that we have still been able to share our little man. Yes he was poorly, yes he had a lot happen in those 11 days but he was also the most gorgeous little boy (yes I’m bias). We don’t want you all just to apologise but ask us about him. He was still a person, still had personality and still showed us how much of a fighter he was! Mummy and daddy love you little man!
