Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Richard Ennis, Head of Business at Stephen James Enfield, trades his BMW i8 for a cargo bike! Richard will be cycling from home in Winchmore Hill to Stephen James at Lincoln Road in Enfield each day for one week in his business suit to raise money for The Nightingale Cancer SupportCentre.

Richard doesn't cycle regularly; the last time he was on a bike was 9 years ago. He agreed to do it because he has become increasingly frustrated with his car journey to work. The high volume of traffic going such a short distance is very trying. Richard is keen to test how long his journey each day will take by cycle and believes that the results will get interesting.

If you see him give him a beep or, even better, support his cause by donating to his just giving page; every penny helps.  www.justgiving.com/stephenjamesenfieldBMWMini or TEXT: SJEN99 followed by your donation to 70070.

Each year the Stephen James dealerships select a local charity to support as their ‘Charity of the Year’. This year, Stephen James Enfield chose The Nightingale Cancer Support Centre.  A local charity for Enfield providing physical, emotional and psychological support to anyone affected by cancer.

Staff at Stephen James said “It is great to be able to support a charity that dedicates itself to those affected by cancer within the Enfield area. Fundraising, apart from the obvious effect of raising much needed support for this superb charity, is a great way for staff to have fun as a team. We are looking forward to beginning our newest Charity of The Year Campaign”.

This week we launched the campaign with a spectacular balloon lift off.  In addition to the cycle ride by Richard, each week the Central Functions Department will be baking cakes and hopes to exceed their target from last year to over £1000 for the charity.  Along with staff family fun days, BBQ’S and senior management wrestling matches the staff hope to raise in total £10,000.00 throughout the year.

Lesa Barker, Fundraising Manager for The Nightingale says “The Nightingale receives no statutory funding and has to rely totally on the local community to help us raise not only much needed funds, to enable us to provide our services free of charge to the people of Enfield, but also raise the awareness of the charity.Having organisations like Stephen James supporting us and fundraising for us is essential to our survival.
