Story
Did you know that 90% of the volunteers who join a lifeboat crew are not from a maritime background? And yet they still give up their time to save complete strangers in peril at sea.
So although Clare has been horribly seasick on a lifeboat and Steve prefers to admire them from the comfort of the bar, we thought the least we could do was attempt to complete the Great North Run, a half marathon, to raise money for the lifeboat crews and the RNLI.
Every year it costs the charity £1,214.00 to fully train each individual crew member in skills such as sea survival, boat handling, navigation, first aid, etc. - and, with your help, we will raise enough money to fund a year's training for one of these brave volunteers.
So please dig deep and sponsor our efforts. The RNLI's lifeboat service is funded entirely by voluntary donations, so please help us to turn someone who is willing to save a life into someone who can.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the RNLI.
