Story

HARPENDEN, REDDITCH, GLASGOW AND RETURN.
2019 IS THE 80TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE OUTBREAK OF WW2 AND THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY OF D DAY.
I HOPE TO LEAVE THE 2 WHEEL CENTRE, 50 WESTFIELD ROAD, HARPENDEN, AL5 4HW ON THE 1ST JUNE 2019 AND I WILL BE RIDING MY 1942 ROYAL ENFIELD WD C/O DRESSED IN THE KIT OF A WW2 DESPATCH RIDER (DON R).
TO MAKE THS MORE OF A CHALLENGE, NAVIGATION WILL BE BY MAP ONLY AND I WILL CAMP EACH NIGHT USING (AS FAR AS POSSIBLE) THE KIT WHICH WAS AVAILABLE TO A DON R.
TO MAKE THINGS MORE INTERESTING, AS THE BIKE IS 77 YRS OLD AND MOTORWAYS DID NOT EXIST DURING THE WAR, THESE WILL BE AVOIDED.
THE FIRST DESTINATION WILL BE THE FACTORY SITE IN REDDITCH WHERE THE BIKE WAS BUILT. FROM THERE I SHALL CONTINUE TO THE REMAINS OF THE ACK ACK SITE AT DRUMCROSS NEAR GLASGOW. THIS IS BECAUSE MY BIKE WAS USED BY 12TH ANTI AIRCRAFT DIVISION, WHICH WAS RESPOSIBLE FOR A/A DEFENSE OF CLYDESIDE AND NORTHERN IRELAND. I SHALL RETURN VIA THE EAST COAST TO ARRIVE BACK AT THE 2 WHEEL CENTRE ON 8TH JUNE.
PHOTOGRAPHS WILL BE TAKEN ALONG THE WAY AND WHERE POSSIBLE THIS JUST GIVING PAGE WILL BE UPDATED WHEN AND WHERE POSSIBLE.
THE ROUTE AS PLANNED IS APPROX 900 MILES.
I AM SELF FUNDING ALL THE EXPENSES THAT WILL BE NEEDED TO COMPLETE THIS CHALLENGE, SO ALL SPONSORSHIP/ DONATIONS WILL GO TO THE ROYAL BRITISH LEGION.
