Story
Thanks for popping in to sponsor me. It is true that I am doing this for me. To get fit. To get outdoors. To apply myself to a challenge. Asking for money always feels a little awkward but sponsorship is good because it is an accepted way to put some of our relative good fortune into a bigger cause. Anyhow, in return you get to imagine me as you choose: either in terrible pain as I stubble up a hill; or as a flying epitome of fitness - gliding through the opposition to the winning line. I do promise to let you know how it goes. Remember a small sum here will up the pressure - I won't be able to cop out and it will get me out on a wet Sunday in an attempt to get my feet moving.
So having thought it would be good to see if I might raise some funds, CamKids was an easy choice. I wanted to acknowledge our relative privilege and look further afield in the world. And I wanted to support something hugely impactful, that was being done for free, by people who care deeply about the work. The charity is great and I encourage you to take a look at www.camkids.org.
Cambodia is one of the poorest countries in the world. The charity helps children who are either poor or whose parents are not there for them: orphans, street children, children living in poor rural areas and children affected by natural disasters, such as flood or famine. Offering help to families through the provision of nutritional, medical and educational support, healthcare advice and vocational skills.
Donating through JustGiving is pretty simple, quick and secure. JustGiving don't sell on your details or send you unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity.
