Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am not a natural runner! Just look at the cover image. I ran my first (only) marathon in 2014. I ran past (or was overtaken by) folks in rhino costumes. Now I feel more like the rhino!

Since 2014 I have entered the London marathon ballot every year. Every year I know that the chances of being selected are small, and so I was safe, but felt that I was doing something active by entering!

When I got the bad news (!) this year that my plan had failed and that I would need to run, my mind went straight to Wildlife Vets international (WVI). I owe many of my career choices to conversations with one of WVI's founders, Dr. John Lewis, and I have been excited to follow the organisation's activities. Their aims and activities are in line with my own passions. WVI were my first choice to fund raise for and I'll let them introduce themselves:

Wildlife Vets International: Saving species from extinction is a complicated puzzle. There is no quick fix and the challenges we face are immense. Poaching, habitat loss and pollution are just some of the huge problems that are made worse by unexpected outbreaks of disease. Wildlife veterinary expertise is vital for controlling disease, giving the right medical treatment to reduce suffering, and successfully rehabilitating endangered animals. You can help train more people on the conservation frontline to use veterinary science so that wildlife can survive and thrive. WVI puts veterinary science at the heart of conservation.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Many thanks for reading this and for any support. Wish me luck!
