We equip specialist emergency responders to treat critically ill patients in Suffolk

Story

What is SARS?

SARS provide specialist doctors and paramedics to assist the East of England Ambulance Service at the scenes of incidents where patients require an enhanced level of medical care before they reach hospital. For more than 44 years they have provided a local and advanced pre-hospital resource on a voluntary basis for local communities throughout Suffolk and the border areas of Norfolk, Essex & Cambridgeshire. SARS doctors and paramedics are all unpaid volunteers who provide their services without any charge

EMT and firefighter Martin Grove, paramedic and coastguard Adam Wright from Ormesby and Rod Wells, a critical care paramedic, SARS responder and lifeboat coxswain from Gorleston, will travel to Kiruna in northern Sweden on August 11 and over 4/5 days be trekking through the artic circle for 110km and passes over mountains and glacier

The actual trek starts in Nikkaluokta and partly follows the Kungsleden (Kings trail). The area is classic Sub-Arctic Lapland trekking through forest, tundra, valleys and fighting the savage Arctic mosquitoes.

Living of freeze dried food and my dodgy beef jerky are feet will be carrying is and our back packs for 110km. We will be camping en-route.
