Story
On Sunday 29 May, I will run the Liverpool Half Marathon
to raise money for CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young).
I am doing it for Mario and Debbie Dubois, who lost their son Harry very suddenly two years ago, from a completely undetected heart condition. He was just 17 years old.
Remembering him, they say: "There was no indication that Harry had a severe and rare heart condition, from being a normal teen on a Thursday night to his tragic passing away on that awful Saturday evening; there had simply been no warning signs.”
We all work at the BBC in Salford, and over the past two years many of Mario and Debbie's colleagues have shown their support for the family. Now it is my turn.
Mario and Debbie Dubois have campaigned tirelessly to raise money for CRY, to reduce the frequency of sudden cardiac death by supporting a screening programme.
Through Mario and Debbie's incredible efforts, and with the support of many of their friends, CRY have successfully organised ?? screening sessions in the community, targeting young people who have no idea at all that they are at risk.
If you feel you can help by even just giving a few pounds I would be so grateful.
If you’d like to come and support me on the day that would be lovely too. Thank you so much.
