Story
The Three Hoolios aka Ashling, Emma and Tasha are attempting to walk 100km in under 30 hours along the Cotswold Way on the 20th June. We're doing this to raise money for The Wildlife Trusts and support the fantastic work they do to make the world wilder again so nature can refind it's home. We love being out in nature so this challenge seems the perfect backdrop to raising money for an amazing charity who work so hard to protect it, for wildlife and people alike.
We originally wanted to do this challenge as part of the organised Coswold Way 100km challenge, with hundreds of other people, support crews, tents, music, food and first aid provided all the way along, but it seemed to be at odds with why we were doing it, so to make it easier on ourselves (ha!) but definitely easier on the planet, we decided to go it alone (minus the wonderful Aleks meeting us at a few points to top up water and bring snacks!). Doing it on the summer solstice makes sense as it will minimise the amount of night time walking but there will be something magical about walking into the solstice morning, if we're even walking/still awake at that point!!
The Wildlife Trusts do such a variety of hugely important work. From fighting to save wildlife, bringing people closer to nature and finding natural solutions to climate change. As they say:
We need nature and it needs us. The Wildlife Trusts and our supporters are here to make the world wilder and make nature part of life, for everyone. We’re helping to make life better – for wildlife, for people and for future generations.#30by30The Wildlife Trusts are calling for at least 30% of our land and sea to be connected and protected for nature’s recovery by 2030. Making more space for nature to become abundant once again will give our struggling wildlife the chance to recover and also restore beautiful wild places.
So if you love nature and our planet or just want to see three women who haven't done an all nighter since university try to navigate through the night (only one of us knows how to use a compass!), then please donate. It would mean the world and be a great motivation at 3am when we're (hopefully) 75km in and still have the longest amount we have yet to walk, still to go!!
