Story
This time last year I was preparing to travel to Yemen to help support those in need thanks to your help.
I was shocked at how bad the situation was there. I remember walking out of the children's hospital and breaking down after seeing all the malnourished children. I was shocked at seeing people's living conditions. I was shocked when a woman told us her fear of hunger was worse than her fear of bombs. The biggest issue there was that people had no food. Due to no fault of their own.
Perhaps that is why I haven't been too mentally affected by this COVID-19 situation in UK and why I volunteered to work on the frontline here... Because I've seen so much worse in other parts of the world!
The one thing that does bother me though is that this year those in countries that are far worse off than us and rely on our annual donations (especially in Ramadan), are going to suffer more.
Yemen is a country that I still feel doesn't get the support it needs. For that reason, I have decided to fundraise for Yemen this Ramadan via Syria Relief.
I chose Syria Relief because I am confident that the money I raise for Yemen will be spent in the form of emergency food pack distributions INSIDE Yemen DURING Ramadan!I'm proud to be a part of Syria Relief expanding their work to include Yemen and I hope more and more charities will follow suit. For me, it's never been about the charity but about the cause, transparency and autonomy to work the way I want. AlHamdulillah, I'm getting that for this cause.
The cost for getting a 1 month food pack to Yemen is £90. Please donate whatever you can and share this opportunity with your friends and family:
