I am doing this challenge because I have seen first hand how brain tumours in children devastate families. Even a successfully treated tumour often leaves young people's lives permanently altered because brain tumours are uniquely difficult to treat. Despite this, the courage in families affected continues to inspire me to help find a better way of diagnosing and treating this all too common condition. 

I teach pathology to medical and science students at the University of Nottingham. I really enjoy helping them to understand how changes to the structure of a healthy tissue leads to disease. It helps tie everything together for them, about how the patient will feel, what tests they need to to diagnose and how best to treat disease.
