On May 19 and 20, I will be joining a group of my PRH colleagues in the UK to hike the Welsh 3000s, covering the 14 highest peaks in Wales over two days, in an effort to raise money for a UK charity called The Ministry of Stories.  Those of you who know me well will know that this is a bit outside my comfort zone, as I have never really taken on a physical challenge like this!  I am sure it will test my endurance as well as my nerve (there are a few scary-looking exposed peaks on this route), but I am looking forward to the experience.  I think it will be a great way to get to know some of my UK colleagues better, while also raising money for a worthwhile cause. 

The Ministry of Stories focuses on helping children to realize their potential through discovering the joy and craft of stories.  The Ministry’s after-school writing clubs help children ages 8-12 to develop their imaginations and to improve their reading and writing skills in a fun, encouraging environment.  By championing “the writer in every child,” The Ministry of Stories helps children build confidence and self-respect, while also improving their communication skills.
