We work to protect and support children to give them a safe and happier future

Story

Following the massive success last year where Sweets for Sherin was able to raise £45,020.69 to support the Uyghur orphans affected by conflict, comes a new opportunity this Ramadan.

Thanks to you and our team, this Ramadan, we want to continue the Sadaqah Jaariyah inspired by our sister Sherin who we sadly lost in 2020, by building new homes for poor families in Bangladesh.

In 2019 an estimated 5 million people in Bangladesh were homeless or lived in makeshift shelters, one of the worlds highest rates. Destitute families with young children struggle day to day without basic necessities and the protection a safe home provides.

No running water or sanitary toilets, scrap metal for roofs, and the mud as floors leave no protection from Bangladesh's wet and volatile weather, disease, and criminal gangs, and does little to provide a safe environment for children and adults to thrive or survive.

No human deserves to live like this.

We have an opportunity to change the lives of these families forever and help pull Bangladesh out of poverty, allowing families a greater chance to live and prosper.

Sweets for Sherin in partnership with Lonely Orphans, will be providing new homes for destitute families, living in absolute poverty.

Each new home costs £1,500 consisting of concrete, bamboo and high quality tin. Homes will have rooms for the family and designated kitchen facilities, affording families a safe usable space, protected from the elements.

This is an amazing opportunity for us all to be a part of change in Bangladesh, and leave a Sadaqah Jaariyah, that will be a long lasting legacy for us in the decades to come, and lasting for the generations of families who we can help support.

The families we aim to support will appreciate any donation big or small, and collectively, we hope you can help make a life changing difference.

Thank you for reading, thank you for  supporting our amazing work last year, and thank you in advance for your continued support. Sherin would be proud of us. May Allah reward us all.

Sweets for Sherin.

Back Story

In October 2020, Sherin at the age of 25 attended A&E with severe abdominal pain. Doctors assumed it was an appendix issue or burst cyst, but a few days later it was confirmed that it was in fact cancer and that she only had a few short weeks left. In November 2020 Sherin left us and returned back to Allah SWT.

Sherin was loved by so many, mainly due to her caring, selfless and affectionate nature for others. Over the past few months since her sudden and unexpected demise, there has been an outpour of emotion and love from the community.

She has been described as an 'angelic' individual, with the ‘most beautiful soul'. She is 'irreplaceable', 'a special person' and ‘an enlightened being' to quote some of her many beautiful characteristics.
I cannot begin to describe what she meant to us, but one word that comes to mind is 'example'...an example of the perfect daughter, sister, cousin, niece, auntie, colleague, and above all a dear friend. Her smile; contagious. Her personality, compassionate. A wholesome individual with a heart of gold.

During her last few weeks she was in immense chronic pain. Despite this she showed such strength and courage comforting those around her, being positive and bearing the pain and grief. She eventually left peacefully with her loved ones surrounding her just like she wanted. Despite her unforeseen terminal diagnosis, she had an attitude that was filled with mercy and kindness. May Allah ta’ala accept her as a martyr.

She has left behind two grief stricken parents and five heart broken siblings who are still suffering with the shock of such a huge and painful loss.

Although she may not be with us in person, she leaves behind lessons and an example that we can all learn from. She was very generous, be it with her time & wisdom. Our love and compassion for Sherin has led us to strive to continue Sherins legacy and also build our own with the ceaseless charity (Sadaqah-Jariyah).

May Allah swt grant her peace in the grave, forgiveness and mercy on the day of judgement and for us to be with her in Jannah, Ameen.

"When a man dies all his good deeds come to an end except three: Ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah), beneficial knowledge and a righteous child who prays for him." [Sahih Muslim]

“The believers shade on the day of resurrection will be his charity” [Al Tirmidhi]

May Allah (swt) reward and accept all of our efforts and allow us to build a legacy,  helping us to reap the benefits in the Hereafter.

We ask you to kindly donate and support SWEETSFORSHERIN this Ramadan.
