As many of you know and have probably noticed, I have rather long, silky and naturally straight hair that I’ve been told many would kill to have. I have had long hair for as long as I can remember and I simply love my hair.

However, for a very special reason, I have decided to shave my hair off ... all off it ... to Grade 2!

Yes, I know it sounds crazy and absurd and wild ... and I will possibly look rather strange for a while until my hair grows back. But I have chosen to do this to support two very worthy causes :

The funds I raise for crazy act of shaving my gorgeous hair, will go directly to Coeliac UK who support people who have been diagnosed with Coeliac Disease or Dermatitis Herpetiformis.

For the hair that I give up, I will be donating them to The Little Princess Trust to make wigs for little girls and boys who have sadly lost their hair as a result of treatment fighting Cancer. 

Why Support Coeliac UK?

My mother was diagnosed 12 years ago to have Coeliac Disease and has struggled immensely with her diet. Being an Indian, our diet predominantly consists of wheat of some variety, like the Naans, Chappatis, Pittas, Spring Rolls, Samosas etc and these very quickly became out of bounds for her. Eating out was a total No No! Coeliac UK supported her tremendously through her journey in dealing with the disease, the side effects and offering her guidance along the way.

As a result of having Coeliac Disease, she ran a high risk if developing Intestinal Cancer. A year ago, the doctors felt that she may be developing cancer and carried out various tests and the story carried on! 

A week ago, she was given the amazing news that she is now “Free from Intestinal Cancer”! As such, this is my way of thanking The Lord and a way to support Coeliac UK in their efforts to help those with Coeliac Disease and further their research.
