Story

Thanks for visiting our team fundraising page.

As a group of friends and colleagues we have decided to undertake the 3 peaks challenge as our team goal for 2018. The National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales. The total walking distance ids26 miles and the total ascent is 3064 metres. The total driving distance is 462 miles.

To further challenge ourselves as a group, we have decided to complete the challenge in just 24 hours!!! As this will be an incredibly tough challenge for us individually, we have decided we'd like to use this opportunity to raise funds for charity. You'll see our team fundraising target on the right. Your donation can really help us smash this goal!

We've decided we would like to support a local charity, so have chosen to support our local hospital in Northampton to reach the target of £350,000 to develop and transform an area of Talbot Butler ward to create a purpose built facility for an Emergency Assessment Bay (EAB).

The new emergency assessment bay will be accessible 24 house per day, 7 days a week, specifically for emergency oncology and haematology patients.

Oncology and haematology patients are often ill between their treatment cycles and require emergency support and review, sometimes immediately. The urgent nature of these complications mean that patients are unable to wait for outpatient appointments.

The support provided to patients at present is to attend the EAB in the oncology outpatient department during the hours of 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. Outside of these times and when capacity with in the hospital has been reached in the current EAB the patients are advised to visit A&E. With the patients immune system often compromised due to their treatment, they can be exposed to unnecessary infection making A&E a far from ideal place for them to be.

The hospital would like to create a separate area on Talbot Butler ward for a new EAB. The new EAB will have dedicated areas for triage, assessment and examination in an environment that is open and spacious, offerining pateints 24/7 specialist assessment.

With your help we can improve the quality of the service provided for the patients needing access to the EAB. In light of this, your support would be greatly appreciated in order to help this deserving fund reach its target and improve the experience for patients that are very poorly.

Knowing that we are raisining funds for such a worthwhile cause will also give us the inspiration and motivation required when the going gets tough - which it most certainly will.

Remember: donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your detils are safe with JustGiving - they'll never share them with anyone or send you unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to our chosen charity. They'll make sure Gift Aid (an additional 25%) is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. This means more money goes to the charity.

Thank you once agian for your generous support, it will make a real differnce for patients at a time when it is very much needed.
