Story

Hiya everyone and thank you for visiting my Just Giving page.

I have put together a team of people called 'TEAM EVAN', our goal is to raise as much money as possible for the British Heart Foundation in memory of my son Evan Thomas Pheasant.

We have decided to participate in the 'High Peak Winter Trail 2015'. Now many of you will ask why we are wanting to do a 17 mile hike? Well the simplest answer is in memory of Evan! Hopefully by raising much needed funds, it will result in research being undertaken which hopefully one day could stop families like ours going through the nightmare we have been (and still are going) through!

Please join us if you can even if its just to cheer us along!

Evan Thomas Pheasant was born on 27/10/2014. At 22 weeks into my pregnancy we found out that Evan has a complex heart conditon called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS for short) and were given 3 options; to terminate, to have palliative care once he was born or try for a 3 stage course of surgeries. We chose surgery as we wanted to give Evan a chance. Evan was born at Birmingham Womens hospital and was transferred to Birmingham Childrens' hospital at just under 24 hours old. At 3 days old Evan unwent his first open heart surgery. He done so amazingly well that he was discharged home at 14 days old! Our little boy amazed us with his strength and determination. We attended Birmingham Childrens' hospital every 2-4 weeks where the consultants were happy with his progress. on 06/02/2015 we attended a routine outpatient appointment. It was decided as Evan was coming up to having his 2nd stage surgery it would be good to keep us in as he was to have a cardiac cathater on the monday morning at 9am. All his heart scans were good on this day, he was just slightly blue (which is normal for HLHS children). We were admitted to the ward at just before 6pm. Tragically Evan passed away at just after 9pm. We still have no answers and hope once the inquest has been completed we will finally know what happened to our little super hero
