Story
We are 5 friends and cyclists ranging from Weekend Warriors to frankly bang average.
What are we doing? We are cycling The Way of the Roses - a well cycled path from Morecambe to Bridlington usually over 2 or 3 days.
How did this idea come about? Alex said to Charlie that Charlie needed to start doing challenges that we really worthy of his donations. By this, he meant painful enough. He’s that type of guy.
So, we are going to attempt to cycle The Way of the Roses but in one day. This is 289 kilometres and almost 10,000 feet of climbing.
We needed a team and the choices were easy.
Matt, Ben and Conor have all taken on challenges before but they will be the first to admit that they have not been quite this challenging. They were however very keen to take on this behemoth of a ride especially for a cause as good as CHSF.
Alex is a strong cyclist. Charlie isn’t.
You may ask why we have left only 4 weeks to raise our donations. Frankly, it’s because we weren’t wholly confident we would make it round (or to the start line!).
However, here we are before you. In the hope that your valuable donations will provide the much needed drive and motivation leading up to the day and, most importantly, on the day.
Please do donate if you are able, Children’s Heart Surgery Fund do some incredible work and we are delighted that we can be part of their journey.
Disclaimers:
By way of keeping you updated on our training and progress there will be pictures of middle aged men in Lycra.
Any pictures of the actual ride will not be pretty either.
