Story
This year celebrates the tenth year of the Pedal 4 Pounds bike ride and will be a European adventure around Belgium and the Netherlands between Monday 29th April and Friday 3rd May 2019.
The money raised from the ride will go half to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and half to the Town Foundation. The Foundation will split their half in three ways; one third to Kirkwood Hospice, one third to Ruddi’s Retreat and they will use the remaining third for their own Breakfast Clubs.
As in previous, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance are proud to have 'Team YAA' cycling the full route!
This year flying the flag is..
Director of Aviation, Andy Lister
Andy is no stranger to the saddle, having already completed three previous Pedal 4 Pounds bike rides! Andy describes his riding style as 'streamline and professional' and has declared himself a 'self-taught athlete'. Victoria, Andy's wife, describes him as extremely modest (amongst other things..)!
Director of Operations, Neale Jacobs
Neale entered the world of cycling last year as 'Best Newcomer 2018' when he signed up to P4P9 after overindulging in a few pints at Town's Canalside bar. As an amateur cyclist, Neale took the obvious training approach of 'hoping for the best' but describes the experience as 'one of the hardest but most enjoyable challenges he's ever done' and is back this year loaded with talc and padded shorts!
YAA Medical Advisor, Dr Jez Pinnell
Jez also has previous when it comes to Pedal 4 Pounds bike ride service and is 'quietly confident' he still has what it takes to keep up with 'Streamline Andy'... not that they're competitive!
YAA Doctor, Dr Chris Srinivasan
We're delighted to welcome newcomer Chris to Team YAA for his first Pedal 4 Pounds bike ride! Chris has been taking training VERY seriously and is excited to swap his flight suit for spandex!
Best of luck to our Team YAA! Each of the team members would be grateful for any support and donations which will go directly into saving lives across Yorkshire!
Check back for updates and more!
