Waking up (back in December) after a boozy night at the Evans’ house, Simon & I vaguely recalled agreeing to do this challenge. 😱 In fact, we’d signed a scrap of paper to this effect (see cover photo), so there was no backing out.

As complete novice-runners, we started to panic, but we needn’t have, because (little did we know) we had the BEST personal trainers (Ellie & Dean) training us over the following 5 months  🏃🏼‍♀️🏃‍♂️

13.1 miles won't be easy for the Burnell contingent, but we’re determined to do it (with our awesome friends) and we want to make it count - by raising some money for a very special charity.

Ellie & Dean are parents to Ffion, who was diagnosed at 11 months with multiple cerebral cavernoma in her cerebellum and brain stem. She has had several brain bleeds (strokes) since then and is now treated for mild cerebral palsy symptoms. She is at risk of another stroke at any time, and a small amount of damage in her brain stem can be life-altering. She is taking part in a unique drug trial at Great Ormond Street & is the only person in the world on a drug regime for this rare disease.

So we’d like to raise money for Cavernoma Alliance because they provide wonderful support to individuals and families affected by the disease, they work to raise awareness, and support vital new treatment research.
