Millwall run from no one… But we’ll run a half marathon run if it helps out those in need in the local community!
A unlikely pride of Ted, Dave, Alex and Jam take to the streets of London (which is ours) to fly the banner for the Millwall Community Trust (MCT).
The Trust, established in 1985, works tirelessly provide sporting, education, social and healthy lifestyle opportunities to the local community in Southwark, Lewisham and the wider community. Its work is targeted at people of all ages irrespective of race, gender or sexual orientation and runs programmes aimed at tackling social exclusion, racism, knife crime, lack of employment opportunities for young people, mental health and disability issues.
For over 35 years, the team have organised a mix of traineeships, sports development programmes, the Building Futures programme, which helps support veterans and service leavers into further education and employment pathways as well as part-time alternative education programmes and school holiday activities.
Many of the runners for Team MCT started during 2020 to fill a hole left by the lack of football, now we are keen to put our new hobby to good use to help those local who have been the worst hit by the pandemic.
Let’s show ‘em what we can do and once again dig deep for charity. EIO
