We enable people with disabilities to achieve their full potential

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are Liam, Linzi and Hannah.

We will be doing a Super Bungee Jump [315 ft ] on Sunday April 25th 2010, to raise money for The Lake District Calvert Trust.

The LDCT was the first centre to pursue the ideal of enabling people with disabilities, together with their families and friends, to achieve their true potential through the challenge of outdoor adventurous activities in the countryside. Their motto being 'IT'S WHAT YOU CAN DO THAT COUNTS'

Linzi has a rare  genetic condition, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, which amongst other things causes her bones to dislocate very easy and leaves her in constant pain.

She can go down to the Calvert and take part in Horse riding, abseiling, rock climbing, and sailing not forgetting archery Trapeze and swing and caving.

Due to her condition we can't find anywhere in Scotland that would allow her to take part in these activities [due to insurance and the specialist equipment that is required]

Any donation no matter how small will help give a disabled child/adult a life changing experience at the Calvert.

For every £25 raised one person will enjoy a morning/afternoon of activities that will change their life forever.

None of us is actually looking forward to leaping off a 315ft crane, but if we can raise a few extra £s for the Calvert then so be it.

The Calvert has changed Linzi's life for the better, lets see if we can help them to keep doing so, for Linzi and other families with children/adults with a learning/physical or sensory disability.

Any donation no matter small counts, and will be greatly appreciated

Thanks and wish us luck

Liam, Linzi and Hannah

About the charity

The Lake District Calvert Trust provides residential outdoor activity courses for people of all ages with physical, sensory, learning, behavioural and/or mental disabilities. Its mission is to challenge disability through outdoor adventure. Pioneering equipment adaptations, and intensive, instructor-led activity programmes (that include climbing, abseiling, canoeing, sailing, horse/trap driving, archery, orienteering and paragliding), provide an environment whose aims are to teach, challenge, motivate, engender confidence in ability, promote independence, and foster integration. All instructors are highly trained and specialist qualified, and the facilities are specially adapted and fully accessible to all. The Lake District Calvert Trust provides a unique and life-changing experience for those with disabilities, who are encouraged to believe that it’s what you CAN do that counts.
