I'm running/crawling a 10k with a few other friends in aid of The Christie Charitable Fund on the 2nd May 2015
Its 10k or (6.21 miles to you and me!) which is hopefully less than an entire hours running time!
So far, I'm training a few times a week and working up to hitting 6 miles the week before the run - it's a real struggle and there's a lot of work to do.
The Christie Charitable Fund pays for treatment for over 40,000 cancer patients above what the NHS offers.
I'm doing this for one of my closest friends, who, thanks to The Christie, received life saving surgery removing a large amount of their cancer. Whilst they are still fighting this every day and I can only sit on the sidelines and provide moral support, I felt I should do more.
Running 6 miles in one go is a challenge, but I am more than sure I can complete this after my training sessions. In order to make your donation go that little bit further (and hopefully raise more money), I am going to add an extra challenge to it.
My Goal is to raise £150 for this without directly asking for donations.
• If I complete the 10k under 60 minutes, I will only ask you donate 50% of what you have pledged (you are more than welcome to fund the full amount - the Christie deserves all it can get!)
•However, If I make it less than 51 minutes (8.21 minute miles!!!) I expect you to fork up 100% of what you pledge ;)
At the time of writing this, my personal best is an 8.57 min/ mile average so your money might be safe!
My goal is to literally raise £150. This will go direct to The Christie. Every step I run in training and in the race, every stitch and at each point I find it getting unbearable, I remember why we are all doing this and who we are doing it for.
We're going to beat this and we love you!
Thank you for your support.
