Story
In 2020 I had planned to visit 3 cities over 3 days and walk 21 Bridges in each city to raise funds for PSDS as part of Down Syndrome Awareness week.
The 3 cities were London, Prague and Edinburgh as that connected the places where we currently live...We were hoping also to be joined by friends who also supported the charity.
But Covid-19 put those plans on hold and even now its not possible to travel. So for Down Syndrome Awareness week 2021 its time to try and complete the walks but do them locally.
So on Saturday 20th March , I'll be walking over 21 bridges in Haywards Heath and on the same day Anya Clarke (my daughter) will walking 21 Bridges in Liberec in the Czech Republic where she lives and works and Tom Clarke ( my eldest son) will walk 21 bridges over the Water of Leith in Edinburgh.
Why 21 bridges? - because Down Syndrome is caused by an extra chromosome 21. Our son Ross has Down Syndrome. He is a remarkable young man who has achieved much already and has benefitted greatly from the work of PSDS and the Down Syndrome Association.
Why bridges? - because this is about connection: a bridge between two people, groups, or things brings connection.
We've all missed connecting this past year and lets hope in March 2022 for World Down Syndrome Day we will walk in person.
Thankyou to everybody who donated last year and any new donations would be very much appreciated.
