We make music to change lives

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 22nd of October 2022, early in the morning, I will set off from Overton Hill near Avebury, Wiltshire, and run 86 miles along The Ridgeway to the end point at to Ivinghoe Beacon near Tring, Buckinghamshire, Wiltshire.. in less than two days! And I'll be 'performing' on the kazoo at the end of the run, with the session recorded for posterity!

Why?

Soundabout faces an ongoing battle to find sufficient funding to maintain the music services they provide to disabled people. Given that I enjoy challenges, I decided to use this run as an opportunity to raise a small part of the sums they so badly need.

During the run, which probably become a painful stagger after the first ten hours of running, I'll be carrying all my food, water and shelter (this includes my sleeping bag, which will only be used for a couple of hours to get a short rest) in a rucksack.

About The Ridgeway

The Ridgeway National Trail is a 5000 year old trackway through the Chiltern Hills and North Wessex Downs (along Grim’s Ditch for several miles), Barbury Castle and Liddington Castle (hill forts) en route, with 1929m (6328 feet) ascent 1991m (6532 feet) descent.

A quick history lesson: The western section of the Ridgeway National Trail is an ancient path, widely recognized as England’s oldest road, dating back to the Neolithic period. Which makes it older than me!
