Story
As some of you may know, we lost our baby girl in 2009 during pregnancy when she was at 23 weeks. A lot of people helped my wife and I through what was a very traumatic time in our lives, so I wanted to dedicate all of this fundraising effort to raising money for Bliss.
Bliss is a charity that looks after sick/premature babies and supports parents of those born too small, too sick or too soon. I am also running to raise awareness of 'Always with a Smile' - this foundation's aims are simple: firstly, to raise money and awareness for charities and good causes; secondly, to inspire and motivate people to do something they would have never before considered; finally, to make the world a happier place by putting a smile on the face of as many people as possible.
My wife and I have since been fortunate enough to go on to have 2 beautiful children, but I hope you will give generously for this cause that is very close to our hearts and in memory of our little girl who did not make it.
Those of you that know me will also know that I have done this type of thing before, but I have been adding to my challenge each time and this year I will be competing in 6 races. Cumulatively they cover well over 75km of obstacle course and as you know I like to make it harder by completing them in fancy dress!
1) The London River Rat Race - 10k. (25th July)
2) The Mudnificent 7 - 9k. (1st August)
3) The Rock Solid Race - The 'Black - 15k'. (19th September)
4) Spartan Beast - South - 20k (27th September)
5) Judgement Day - 12k (24th October)
6) Men's' Health Survival of the Fittest - 10km (21st November)
I haven't been as active this year so this is going to be a real challenge! I'll be subjected to obstacles of varying craziness including the challenge of running many miles in waterlogged costumes.
For all of you that have been kind enough to support me in previous escapades, thank you! I hope the thought of me enduring pain for a good cause will inspire you to donate again! I have some good ideas for costumes that will make a change from 'Mario brothers'!
