Story
Hello! Thanks for stopping by.
Here we are again. I'm running the London Marathon. I've done it twice before (2008 & 2011) and, although the training and race itself are brutal, marathon day is one of my favourite days of the year; a day in which I come over all misty-eyed for this, my adopted home town.
Why am I doing it? There are two answers to that question.
Firstly (stick with me), I'm getting married this year and am currently a bit fat. Running 26.2 miles should help with this.
Secondly (and far more importantly), I'm raising money for a small charity based in North London. The nattily-titled 'Southgate Sports and Leisure Trust' offer opportunities to play and coach sport to members of their local community.
Having witnessed first-hand, both personally and professionally, the power of grass-roots sports, it's a charity that I am very proud to get behind. The money we raise will help provide people, young and old, with opportunities to be active, learn new skills and make new friends. If, through our actions, we can enable just one child to take up a new sport, or make a new friend, every mile will have been worth it.
Thanks for reading. I hope you can spare a little change to help me reach my fundraising target x
p.s. if you've read this far, you deserve a treat. When sponsoring, send me the name of any song. By way of thank you, I will then record and send you that song. It will most likely be rubbish. BUT, it will hopefully make you smile x
