Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm a simple guy who likes his running. Its a great way to de-stress and explore the wonderful island my family and I are so fortunate to live on. My favourite part of heading out for a run is selecting a playlist, popping my headphones in and hitting the road or trail sometimes for hours at a time...Having trained for 2 Ultra Marathons last year those headphones come in handy when out on a super long run! My adventures so far have seen me tackle a Comrades Marathon (55 Miles) and Round the Rock, a 45 Mile trundle around our beautiful little island Jersey!

How fortunate I am to enjoy experiences like this when so many families in the world face the world with something we can often so easily take for granted. Having recently become a parent I can fully appreciate the brilliant work and support that Earsay Jersey provides to the young children on our island with hearing impairments. Earsay was set up to promote opportunity and a sense of pride through support to Jersey’s hearing impaired children, young adults and their families. They have helped families of friends and colleagues for over 40 years now!

I have set myself the challenge of smashing my personal best Marathon time this year at the London marathon! I did my first marathon in 2014, it seemed like an impossible task leading up to that first run and there is no better feeling than crossing that finish line! 4:02.15 for the first race, next one was the following Easter 2015 at 3.44.24, that May Comrades followed with an
11.14.12...Round the rock last August 08.55.12...Jersey Marathon was my last and personal best 03.33.14! Its been a good few months since then and my last marathon so come April 24th in London the target is 03.20.00 or anything well below 03.30.00! Training kicked off well with  115 miles in Jan, Feb was tough and flu got me so only got in 53 miles...Big March coming up and I'll be aiming for 30-40 miles a week and building up to that long run on the Easter weekend!

Enough about me, this is all about the amazing people at Earsay and what your donations can do for for the team in supporting Jersey's hearing impaired children, young adults and their families:

£30 - Will sponsor a child or young adult attending an Earsay Event

£50 - Will provide a 2 hour one-to-one training session in British Sign Language (BSL)

£100 - Will provide an essential piece of technology to enhance
the life of a hearing impaired child or young adult

£300 - Will sponsor a deaf child or young adult and their family attending a National Deaf Children's Society (NDCS) workshop in the UK
