Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

I am fundraising for the Natural History Museum as it is a great cause.  The money will support the  charity's research into:

Recording life on earth – they look after a collection of 80 million specimens, from huge dinosaur skulls to delicate corals, eye-catching butterflies and microscopic algae. Donations are vital in helping the museum to house and care for these irreplaceable specimens, acquire spectacular new additions and discover new species at a time when many are being destroyed before we can document them or understand their significance.  Support vital scientific research – their expertise means they offer unique insight through socially relevant research. Today their teams help the police with the forensic examination of crime scenes, they do projects that potentially could help feed nine billion people in 2050, and they also look at whether it's possible to eradicate certain parasitic diseases in Africa.  Inspire future generations – encouraging a greater understanding of our place in and impact on the natural world has never been so important. Donations help them to bring their vital work into the public domain through learning programmes, events and exhibitions.

What your sponsorship money can achieve:

£5 – could pay the digitisation of 5 specimens from our unique collection of UK butterflies and moths, so that scientists can study the effects of climate change on these delicate creatures.

My £1,000 target could deliver 6 interactive ‘meet the scientist’ Nature Live events at the Museum, allowing the museum to reach and inspire 500 Museum visitors.

Thanks for taking the time to read my story.  It doesn't matter how big or small your donation is as every little bit helps me to reach my target.
