We have decided to face our fears (some more than others) and do something we have always wanted to do... SkyDive! Between us we are celebrating big birthdays this year..30th's, 40'th, 60th's and what better way to start than falling from the sky!

Why Tiny Tickers?

Tiny Tickers is a charity close to our hearts who we all feel strongly about raising every penny for.  Heart related conditions (not matter what age) have touched many of our loved ones and we have seen and experienced how devasting it can be. 

Cathy (the lead organiser and fundraiser) has herself undergone open heart surgery (a year ago to the date of the jump). This was for a congenital heart defect which can be life threatening. In Cathy's words at the time of detection she was told she was "A ticking timebomb". This CHD, had techonology allowed, could have been detected at birth.  This in turn had been (unknown to Cathy) passed onto her daughter Lil who also underwent open heart surgery at 10 days old and now potentially granddaughter Amira (4 months), who, thanks to advances in technology,  was scanned at birth and can continue to now be monitored after finding a defect.  

And then onto Elijah. Who after 12 hours earth side  was admitted  to NICU and 9 days later diagnosed with a CHD named "Tetralogy Of Fallot".  At only 6 months old Elijah underwent open heart surgery and will continue to face (yet overcome!) obstacles.   This brave little 4 year old soldier is starting school this year! 

As a Mum myself I cannot imagine how it must feel to be told your baby, your mircale of life,  could potententially have a condition that could end their life. As a Godmum I have watched the pain it has caused. The heartache suffered. The Worry. 

But together with TinyTickers we can give every baby the chance to be scanned at birth. To give them every opportunity of a healthy life. 

This is something that must continue. We need to be able to scan babies at birth in order to offer them the best chance of survival .

Tiny Tickers Mission

A baby is born with a serious heart condition every two hours in the UK and despite congenital heart disease being one of the biggest killers of infants in the UK, only around half of congenital heart defects are picked up during routine prenatal scanning. It is absolutely vital that we provide a safety net for the 1,000 babies each year that leave hospital with their heart defect undetected. Help us to increase early detection rates of cardiac conditions thus improving a baby’s chances of survival and long-term quality of life.
