We believe that every child has the right to shelter, food & love, one day at a time.

Story

Listen up, y'all! Now y'all might be wonderin' why we're typin' with a Texas twang here. Well, that's cause we the 'Tomrods Men of Steel' will be competing in this year's Great Knaresborough Bed Race under the given pre-run bed plus x7 member team fancy dress guise of the city of Austin! We do hope that you will come on over to Knaresborough on the day to support us as we take part in this gruelling time trial, which is over a 2.4 mile course, ending with a swim through the icy waters of the River Nidd. However, it would be even greater if you could help us to achieve our goal of raising as much money as possible for our chosen charity in advance of this year's event by donating to the very worthy cause for which we are running. Open Arms Malawi believes that every child has a right to life, survival and development. They provide medical attention, shelter, food and love to some of Malawi's orphaned and abandoned children and work tirelessly to ensure that the children in their care have the chance to grow up with the love of a family and the security of a home. In taking part in the Great Knaresborough Bed Race 2016 we the 'Tomrods Men of Steel' aka Adam Barton, Daniel Groves, George Thompson, Jon Jacobs, Sally Dixon, Tom Cresswell & Tom McDougall wish to raise a wider awareness of this issue and to provide additional necessary funds to help Open Arms Malawi to be there for more of Malawi's vulnerable children. Many thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving.

Today, 1,890 babies will be born in Malawi. 320 will become orphans. 87 will die before their first birthday from malnutrition or illness. We’re the only organisation in southern Malawi able to feed, house and care for these babies and support their return to their communities.
